THMAD (Thermoplastic Hot-Melt Adhesives for Disassembly)

Flash Demonstration

Thermoplastic (polyurethane-based) hot-melt adehsives is designed for the joining of flat-to-irregular and irregular-to-irregular surfaces together. In its melted state, it can flow into minor holes and cavities before cooling, hardening and providing a strong "grip" between componenets.

When re-heated, the adhesive becomes liquid again, instigating the release between the joined components. Any THMAD residue can be drawn from cavities via capillary or suction, and can be re-used.
